Irene and Frederic Joliot-Curie were the daughter and son-in-law of Marie and Pierre Curie. They made great advances in the study of radioactivity. Frederic met Irene while working as Marie Curie’s lab assistant. They signed all their work jointly, a partnership hinted at by their hyphenated last name.
